Scholarship Application Process

Applications for the 2025 scholarship are open from April 27, 2025, through July 4, 2025.

Bitove Scholarship Application

Nova Generation is pleased to announce its annual John L. N. Bitove Macedonian Heritage Scholarship Program to assist young Macedonians pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree outside of Macedonia.

Nova Generation awards scholarships to outstanding students in various academic disciplines at accredited colleges or universities outside of Macedonia. Scholarships start at $1,000 CAD.

Who is eligible?

Students must:

  • be enrolled in high school, CEGEP, college or university (Note: students in their last year of high school must submit proof they have been accepted into a university or college)
  • be a full-time student in September 2025
  • be in good standing
  • attend school outside of Macedonia

How to Apply

Please read the following instructions carefully. Submit this form and e-mail a PDF of the following documents to novagenerationtoronto@gmail.com or mail hard copies of the following documents to the below address no later than July 4, 2025.

To be considered, your application must include the following:

1.    completed form (all sections below)
2.    current photo (headshot)
3.    most recent official or unofficial transcript or report card
4.    resume
5.    list of extracurricular activities
6.    letter from the registrar’s office proving acceptance into post-secondary education
7.    essay (see details on below for essay contents)
8.    quote about what it would mean to receive the scholarship
9.    cheque details include:

    • address where to send the cheque (e.g. registrar’s office)
    • who to make the cheque out to
    • student’s full name as it appears on their school documents
    • student number

Essay contents
In 1000 words or less, tell us:

  • What does your Macedonian heritage mean to you in the context of wider society?
  • How have your ethnic cultural values been affected/impacted by the society in which you live?
  • What role(s) have your parents, grandparents, or other family members played in making you the person you are today?

Upon acceptance, the Nova Generation Bitove Scholarship Selection Committee will evaluate the applications and determine the best candidate for the scholarship. Nova Generation will mail a cheque directly to the college or university.
