Bitove Scholarship Application Process
The Bitove Scholarship awards $1000 (or more) to successful applicants. Students of Macedonian heritage going into trades, or college and university are encouraged to apply. The selection will be based on merit.
If a scholarship applicant has not been successful, they are encouraged to reapply in subsequent years.
The 2026 scholarship process opens on August 7, 2026, at 12:00 AM PT, and closes on October 2, 2026, at 11:59 PM PT, inclusive. Only complete application submissions will be considered for scholarships. Applicants who submit incomplete packages will NOT be contacted if information is missing and they will be eliminated from the process.
Eligibility
Applicants must be:
- enrolled in high school, CEGEP, college or university
- Note: students in their last year of high school must submit proof they have been accepted into a university or college
- a full time student in September 2026
- in good standing
- attending school outside of Macedonia
Documentation required (to be attached in a separate email or sent in by mail)
- completed form (included below)
- current photo (headshot)
- most recent official or unofficial transcript or report card
- resume
- list of extracurricular activities
- letter from the registrar’s office proving acceptance into post-secondary education
- essay (see details below for essay contents)
- quote about what it would mean to receive the scholarship
- biography (no more than 300 words)
- cheque details (cheques will be mailed directly to the post-secondary institution), include:
- address where to send the cheque (e.g. registrar’s office)
- who to make the cheque out to
- student’s full name as it appears on their school documents
- student number
Essay contents
In 1000 words or less, tell us:
- What does “being Macedonian” mean to you?
- What does your Macedonian heritage mean to you in the context of wider society?
- How are your ethnic cultural values reflected in your involvement in your community?
Please Note: The essays and/or quotes written by the scholarship recipients may be published in Nova Generation or other publications including websites. We highly recommend proofreading for grammatical and spelling errors before submitting.
Scholarship evaluation criteria
- Merit
- Quality of the essay (yes, grammar and spelling count)
- Complete application
Upon acceptance of applications, the Nova Generation Board members will evaluate the submissions and determine the candidates who will receive scholarships. The recipients will be notified by email. The 2026 scholarships are going to be awarded by mid to late October.
